Theme:
Moments That Make Experiences
This year's theme looks to extend the experience concepts even further than last year's "Human Connections in a Digital World". Should be exciting to hear what topics/discussions Sitecore has in store for the entire Sitecore community.
Hotel/Location:
McCormick Place: rumor has it that this year's Symposium will be held at McCormick Place. Still awaiting official confirmation from Sitecore, but check back for more details and any hotel discount codes.
What to do in Chicago:
There is so much to enjoy in Chicago from food, beers, sports, etc. that I'm sure there will be something for everyone.I'll try to capture the local scene for those traveling to Chicago for the first time!
Local sports teams:
Chicago Bears: A franchise with over 100 years of history. The Monsters of the Midway are a must see attraction in Chicago. While their QB play is subpar, they make up for it with their hard nose defense and bone rattling hits.
Chicago Bulls: The team of the 90s when Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen were unstoppable and lead the team to 6 NBA titles. While today's team isn't quite a title contender, they are an up and coming young team that is fun to watch - Coby White, Lauri Markkanen, Wendell Carter, and others all make for a good time on the hardwood.
Chicago Blackhawks: Blackhawks are another historic franchise for those that want to take in NHL Hockey while in town.
**Schedules for 2020 have not been released - check back for updates later this spring**
Local brewery scene:
While most towns in the United States offer a great selection of local brews, Chicago really is one of the better beer cities. Here is a link to RateBeer that will show a complete listing, but I've spotlighted a few choice options below:
Goose Island Beer Company: (more details coming soon)
Half Acre Beer Company: (more details coming soon)
Revolution Brewing: (more details coming soon)
Local cuisine:
Every town is known for their signature dishes and Chicago is no exception:
Deep Dish Pizza - much different than NY pizza and a must try when visiting the windy city! Recommend: Lou Malnati's
Chicago Italian Beef Sandwich - Recommend: Al's Italian Beef
Chicago Style hot dogs - Recommend: Portillo's
BBQ - While it may not be KC/Memphis/Texas, Chicago has some excellent BBQ to try. I hear great things about Smoque, Bub City and Wrigley BBQ!
