Tools you should use: Sitecore Scheduled Publish Module

Schedule Publishing

With the Sitecore Scheduled Publishing Module, we can now schedule items to be published at an exact date and time. 

Best Practice for Embargo dates:

·         Add a publishing restriction that won’t allow item to be published until 1 minute prior to the scheduled publishing job. 

Example:

    Add publishing restriction to allow publishing after 7:59am

• Select item from content tree
• Go to publishing tab
• Click the ‘Change’ button
  

• Switch to Item tab within the Publishing settings window  
• Add a Publishable from date that is 1 minute prior to scheduled publishing job

    Add scheduled publishing task to publish at 8:00am

•  Select item from content tree
• Go to publishing tab
• Click Schedule Publish button

•  Setup: Publish time for one minute after restriction is lifted
•  Use: Smart Publish
• Select Language
• Choose Internet or Intranet for the publishing target depending on the site.

Schedule Unpublishing

With the Sitecore Scheduled Publishing Module, we can now schedule items to be unpublished at an exact date and time. 

Best Practice:

·         Add a publishing restriction that restrict publishing 1 minute prior to the scheduled publishing job. 

Example:

• Add publishing restriction to not allow publishing after 7:59am
• Select item from content tree
• Go to publishing tab
• Click the ‘Change’ button

• Switch to Item tab within the Publishing settings window
• Add a Publishable to date that is 1 minute prior to scheduled publishing job

• Add scheduled unpublish task to unpublish at 8:00am
• Select item from content tree
• Go to publishing tab
• Click Schedule Unpublish button

• Setup: Publish time for one minute after restriction is added
• Use: Smart Publish
• Select Language
• Choose  publishing target depending on the site.

Edit Schedule

Sometimes plans change and you will need to adjust the schedule. In order to edit the existing schedule:

• Edit scheduled publish task
• Select item from content tree
• Go to publishing tab
• Click Edit Schedule button

• Modify the Date/Time within the Edit Publish Schedules window
